2013 SMU International Students’ Christmas and New Year Party

On December 13, 2013 SMU International Students’ Christmas and New Year Party was held. Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU, leaders from relative departments, teacher representatives, short-term and long-term overseas students as well as students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, a total of more than 200 people attended this annual gathering.

Prof. Jin Yongxing on behalf of SMU gave a speech, sending Christmas and New Year greetings to the students from all over the world. He noted that the number of SMU international students had been rising steadily in 2013, cultivation institutes were further optimized, all kinds of long-term and short-term programs progressed smoothly and education internationalization presented a good developing tendency. Along with the center of international education shifting gradually toward Dongming Campus of SMU, teaching conditions continued to improve that would surely increase the international students’ sense of agreement and belonging. At the end of his speech, he wished all the teachers and students could make greater advances in years to come.

The party was co-hosted by 13 grade student of International Trade, Yu Xiurong from Thailand, 13 grade student of Transport and Communications of Economics and Management, David from Pakistan and 12 grade student of International Trade, Pei Shiyun from Vietnam. The fluent bilingual language and funny hosting style activated the party atmosphere. The international students respectively presented wonderful performances. Folk dancing from African class, self-composed song “Shanghai Diary” of Eli from Indonesia, Chinese classical song and dance, elocute in French, self-wrote and played stage play “Who is the Most Important” and Chinese martial arts of “The Great Wall Never Fall” won warm praise and applause from the audiences.
