2022 Maritime Instructors Training Course Held Online

Sponsored by Shanghai Municipal Government, IMLA organized the 5th Advanced Training Program for Maritime Instructors from June 24th to July 15th, 2022 online with Shanghai Maritime University. On July 14th, the three-week training course was brought to a successful close. Over 200 maritime lecturers and administrators from MET institutions in Georgia, Romania, Egypt, Ghana, Turkey, Pakistan, the Philippines, Cambodia and other countries participated in the training.

IAMU Executive Director Prof. Takeshi Nakazawa, IMLA-IMEC Chair Ms. Alison Noble, Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA) International President Ms. Despina Theodosiou joined the course and contributed their respective expertise. Senior managers from authority and industry were also invited to lead talks at the Course.

In respond to the 28th Day of Seafarer and the first International Day for Women in Maritime, a series of webinars has been delivered with a wide range of topics relating to MET including reviews on the demands and supply of seafarers, interpretations of STCW and national regulations and rules, maritime education quality management, ship intelligence and green technology development, maritime education and training teaching methods, international cooperation in maritime education, as well as the role of women in the maritime industry.

Since 2018, IMLA has continued its efforts to build the Advanced Training Program for Maritime Instructors and Administrators from MET Institutions a brand course, aiming to provide a professional maritime education exchange platform for global participants and promote high-quality and sustainable development of maritime education and training.
