Transas, one of the latest companies to join the IMarEST Corporate Marine Partners programme, opened their doors on the 14th March for Institute members to sample a range of their latest simulation systems.

Institute members from various backgrounds got together for the event which started off with a company presentation, and then the opportunity to sample some of Transas’ world-leading simulators first-hand.

The simulators trialled included a Techsim Engine room simulator running a number of training scenarios, a Main Bridge 280 degree projection Navi-Trainer Professional allowing visitors to sail outside of Portsmouth, a 360 degree Azimuth drive Navi-Trainer Professional Tug simulator, and the Transforce edutainment 6 DOF (Degrees of Freedom) motion Cab which saw members able to sample a full motion simulator in 3D.

Graham Wagstaff, MBE, Business Development Manager (Technical Simulation) at Transas stated: “The opportunity to showcase a number of our pioneering simulators to IMarEST members allowed us to demonstrate first-hand the technological advancements and benefits that Transas simulation systems add to the global maritime sector.”

More than 5,500 Transas simulation systems are installed in more than 950 training and simulator centres in 91 countries. Thanks to close cooperation with marine schools worldwide, Transas specialists have ensured that the functionalities of Transas simulators provide effective training and competence assessment for seafarers. The simulators enable various levels of training, from familiarisation, standard operation and watch-keeping, to advanced operation, troubleshooting and vessel resource management.
