IMLA-IMEC29 Concluded in Busan

 
The 29th International Maritime English Conference (IMLA-IMEC29) has been rounded off in Busan, Korea. 55 experts and professionals from more than 20 countries attended the event taken place during 23-26 Oct 2017. 
 
Prof. Jin Yongxing, Chair of IMLA, sent IMEC29 a congratulatory letter where the theme of this year’s World Maritime Day – “Connecting ships, ports and people” was highlighted. In particular, he once again emphasized the maritime shipping community needs a human centered approach. The significant role IMEC has played in the past decades to the world MET as whole was well recognized in his message.  
 
The conference was opened by Prof. Clive Cole, Chairman of IMEC and Honorary Secretary of IMLA. Attended at the opening were Mr. Milhar Fuazudeen, Head of IMO Maritime Training and Human Element Section, Mr. Byong Gyu Seo, President of Korea Institute of Maritime and Fisheries Technology, Ms. Jin-Hee Seo, Director of Seafarers Policy Division, Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Mr. Yang-ho Song, Director General of Marine and Fisheries Bureau, Busan Metropolitan City as well as the participants. 
 
 
With the theme of Sharing Experiences and Ideas of Teaching and Learning Maritime English, 32 high quality papers and workshops shared and exchanged their experience on maritime English education and the utilization of new tools. The conference was organized and hosted by the Korea Institute of Maritime Fisheries Technology(KIMFT) & Korea Maritime and Ocean University (KMOU).
