A Message from IMLA on the Day of the Seafarer

Dear IMLA members,

Good day!

Today, 25 June 2017, is the seventh Day of the Seafarer (DotS). The purpose of DotS is to recognize the unique contribution made by seafarers from all over the world to international seaborne trade, the world economy and civil society as a whole. This year the theme issued by the IMO is "Seafarers Matter".

About 90% of world trade is carried by the international shipping industry. Without shipping, the import/export of affordable food and goods would not be possible - half the world would starve and the other half would freeze!

At this special time, IMLA sincerely appreciates all members as MET instructors and beyond, for your enormous dedications to educating and training highly-qualified seafarers for this industry.

IMLA also would like to take this opportunity to express our wholehearted regards to all seafarers and their family members!
