Prof. Jin Yongxing Met with IMO Secretary General Mr. Kitack Lim

During his visit in Shanghai on 15-16 May 2017, IMO Secretary General Mr. Kitack Lim was welcomed by Prof. Jin Yongxing, IMLA Chair and Chairman of Shanghai Maritime University Council.  

 

Prof. Jin highlighted IMLA’s strong legacy of global forum for maritime education and training,bringing together maritime lecturers, professionals and experts, as a means to enhance the overall standards of the world MET. He stressed the unique role IMLA plays as an IMO NGO in a wide spectrum of areas, including its most recent commitments to the revision and updates of IMO Model Courses. 

 

Mr. Kitack Lim expressed great appreciations to IMLA’s active involvements with various IMO meetings and activities in the last few decades, and shared his observations and views on the world maritime education to status quo. In further he spoke highly of the MTCC-Asia (Maritime Technology Cooperation Center for Asia, hosted by Shanghai Maritime University)  that aims to address energy efficiency issues from the maritime sector, which he believed would also help achieve the goal of sustainable development for the city of Shanghai and areas beyond.
