Fashion designers from Southampton Solent University will be taking centre stage during Shanghai Fashion Week this April.

The design collections of three BA (Hons) Fashion graduates are featuring in an exciting exhibition at the Shanghai International Fashion Education Centre from 12 April.

Coinciding with Shanghai Fashion Week, the event will feature over 100 examples of innovative design from 12 international fashion institutions, including Parsons of New York, Gothenburg HDK of Sweden and Tama University of Art, Tokyo.

Recent graduates Emily Harris, Natalie Ross and Ieva Poriete have been selected to display outfits from their final-year collections that took to the catwalk at the University’s London and Southampton graduate fashion shows last year.

Philip Clarke, programme group leader of the Fashion Design and Communication courses at Solent, has visited China a number of times over the last two years building a close relationship between partner institutions and the University’s Fashion School.

"There's no denying the global influence and importance of China as a fashion and textile manufacturer. The show is a fantastic opportunity for the graduates involved and for the University as a whole," he says.

Stunning photography and graphic design images from second-year Fashion Design and Development students will also feature in a collaborative exhibition at the China Academy of Art this April.
